Masada II
'illā nocte Eleazārus Iūdaeīs cōnsilium dīrum prōposuit.

    hīs verbīs Eleazārus tantum ardōrem in Iūdaeīs excitāvit ut
ad mortem statim festīnārent. virī uxōrēs līberōsque amplexī
occīdērunt. cum hanc dīram et saevam rem cōnfēcissent, decem
10  eōrum sorte ductī cēterōs interfēcērunt. tum ūnus ex illīs, sorte
invicem ductus, postquam novem reliquōs interfēcit, ipsum
gladiō trānsfīxit.'
    'quō modō nōs ipsī effūgimus?' rogāvit Simōn.
    'ego Eleazārō pārēre nōn potuī', respondit māter. 'vōbīscum
